Sharvari Luth

“Art is the only medium to express yourself, the language which reaches one and all.“

I totally believe in this adage. For me, Art is my passion. I am an Architect and an Artist by profession. I have equipped myself with more knowledge and courses in Color Consultancy, Color Therapy, Landscape Designing and Interiors. I have been active in the Art field since more than two decades and have etched my thoughts and emotions on more than 500 paintings.

I paint contemporary abstracts, landscapes and nature drawings in oils and acrylics on canvas. I try to feel my way through the process and like to connect to the soul of the subject, without majorly concerning myself with distinction between representation and abstraction. I have never really tried to classify my work as any particular style of art, for no other reason but because I don't like limits. I don't like to stay inside the box. I like to cut it up and shape it however I see fit.  I try to let my emotions, my colorful vivid dreams and anything that has inspired me take control of the painting, with me there just to guide it, never holding it back. Without pretensions and explanations, I like my work to speak for itself. I believe in artists total freedom of expression. My inspiration is anything I want it to be - whatever my imagination conjures up. It can be everyday, mundane objects or a subject based on happenings in the society. The most important thing is, it is always something which interests me - something that I can happily immerse myself in, while working on my piece.

I think, the amalgamation of an artist and an architect is evident in my paintings. I give paramount importance to lines, spaces and proportions hence they form the original design which is then interspersed with varied hues of dramatic colours. I try to emphasize the expressive qualities of varied colours in my work. I try to bring together different colors, mediums, textures on a single canvas in the most spontaneous manner.

I am influenced by great Indian artists like S.H Raza, Vasudeo Gaitonde as well as international artists like Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock. Their influences are noticed in my paintings too. Like them, I try to achieve the same effect of sheer drama in my paintings along with capturing harmony and balance.

My artwork has been adorning many residences, offices and edifices all over the world.
I have held my Solo Art Exhibitions almost every year in major cities in India.

I have now ventured into beautiful paintings on furniture too, especially different types of tables. This novel concept has been very well appreciated by collectors, product designers, architects & interior designers.
